Chicago apartment landlords said Wednesday they are being socked with tax assessment increases that will force them to hike rents in a tough economy. Several landlords cited particular buildings on the city’s North Side where assessments have doubled or tripled from a year ago. NEW YORK - Commercial Metals Co. fell Wednesday after an analyst downgraded the shares to “Neutral″ from “Buy” because weak non-residential construction is expected to limit volumes and prices. A UBS analyst said the Irving, Texas, company’s “large long products exposure in the near term outweighs longer-term improvements we expect through the launch of its new Arizona micro-mill, improvements in Eastern Europe, completion of the SAP software investment and scrap exposure.” “Long products” refers to bars and rods used in commercial and industrial construction.

The Associated Press EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Old National Bancorp said Tuesday it has priced a public offering of 18 million shares of common stock at $10 per share, and it expects to net $171 million. The parent company of Old National Bank said it would use the proceeds to fund acquisitions, potentially including assets and liabilities of failed or distressed financial institutions in FDIC-sponsored or assisted transactions.
